To get a feel for how this will work click on the NotePad button (on the task bar across the bottom of the screen). The NotePad with the source you captured should appear. Now click on the PAF button, the PAF screen should appear. Repeat these two actions until you see what is happening.
NOTE: You can accomplish the same thing if the working area of each program doesn't fill the entire screen. If you like to work with one program filling the screen, use the buttons on the task bar. If you have the workspace holding each program overlapping each other and edges visible, you can move between the two programs
by clicking the exposed edge (or anywhere else in the program's workspace) the the program on the bottom.
Click PAF >
If you are working on a person, bring that person's name to the Primary screen (where the person's name is on the top left of the PAF screen. Now bring up the Source Screen for the event that you are working on such as someone's birth.
Click on New. This will allow us to add the new source that you captured at the Family History Center. This will bring up the Edit Source screen.

Click NotePad
Block and highlight the title of the book. Copy it to the clipboard [<Ctrl + C> or right-click the mouse].

Click PAF >
Be sure that the cursor is in the Title box of the Edit Source screen. Paste it from the clipboard [<Ctrl + V> or right-click the mouse]. The title that you copied will appear in the Title box.

Click NotePad
Highlight and copy the author(s) of the source.

Click PAF >
Be sure that the cursor is in the Author box of the Edit Source screen. Paste it.

Click NotePad
Highlight the Publication information and copy.

Click PAF >
Be sure that the cursor is in the Publication box of the Edit Source screen. Paste it.

Click NotePad
Highlight the Call Number and copy.

Click PAF >
Be sure that the cursor is in the Call Number box of the Edit Source screen. Paste it.

Click NotePad
Highlight the Content, Format, and Notes if they are provided and copy.

Click PAF >
Be sure that the cursor is in the Actual Text box of the Edit Source screen. Paste it. This text is the abstract found on the source card from the Library.
If you wish to make any particular comments about this source, enter them into the comments box right below the Actual Text box on the Edit Source screen.
About half way down on the Edit Source screen is a button labeled Repository. Click this so that the Repository for
the source that you are using can be entered and tied to the source.
If the Family History Library is listed in the Repository list, highlight it and click Select. If the Family History Library is not on the Repository list, add it to the list.
Once it has been added, click Select.
With the source and repository information entered, click OK.
Now you are ready to enter the specifics about the citation. This will be a volume and page number, film number, date the entry was made, and comments about the citation.

Click NotePad
Check to see if the book that you have cited is also on a
film. If it is, highlight and copy the film notation.

Click PAF
If you copied a film number from the source, paste it into the comments box on the Source screen.
Enter the Page number and volume number if there is one into the box labeled "film/volume/page#."
Enter the date the entry was made in the "Date of Entry" box.
Just to the right of the date of entry box is a button labeled Actual Text. Click this and enter the paragraph or entry as it is found in the actual source. By doing this, you
will be able to use the find function to locate it in your database.
If you were in the actual text screen, click Save, then click OK, then click Save on the Edit Individual screen.
