You will take the diskette home and open it into a word processor which can read ASCII or .txt files (most programs) or you can use NotePad on your Start button Accessories list.

The NotePad is accessed with the following steps:

• click on the Start Button and select Programs
• select Accessories from the Programs menu
• select NotePad from the Accessories menu
• once the NotePad is on the screen, open the file which you created at the Family History Center

You can then cut and paste the captured source to your notes or source fields in your genealogy computer program.. Cutting and pasting between two files will require that the NotePad program and the PAF program be open at the same time.

You opened the Notepad program in step 3 above, now open your PAF program.

On the task bar across the bottom of the screen, you will see rectangles representing the programs you currently have open. Two of the buttons will be for the NotePad and one for the PAF program.
