A lot of steps, but well worth it. Especially when you need to go back to the source and review or try and find some related information. Having the source and citation there will save you many hours of work trying to find the source and citation within the source.

Transferring the source to the General Notes is much easier.

By adding the source and citation to the general notes with an attached date you will be adding to a time line that will help define your ancestor's life. You have been introduced to how to add notes in Lesson 4. If you need to review that lesson to refresh the memory, take time to do that at this time.

If you don't have two windows active at this time, one with PAF and the other with the source citations from the FHLC, bring those two windows up now. See above on how to do this.

Activate the PAF window and highlight the person for whom you wish to add the source. Then click on the Note Icon on the tool bar. This should bring up the Note Selector for <some name>.
At the top of the list is a note type of All. Highlight this.
Click Open.
Click on the NotePad button on the bottom task bar.
Highlight and copy the entire source notation that you copied at the Family History Center and add the year for the event and the event title, such as 1902 MARRIAGE.
Click on the PAF button on the bottom task bar.
Paste the source into the note area.
Save the note. The PAF program will return you to the Note Selector screen.

Now you have learned ways to prevent errors in your data entry, and to sometimes capture information faster and easier.
