REVIEW: To prevent spelling errors while data entering names and locations, you can verify the spelling of the name as it is being entered the first time. Once a name has been entered correctly, any subsequent entries of that name can be verified against what is in the database.
The PAF program has a preference option that can be set to verify the spelling of a name when entered the first time. To ensure that the program is set to perform this action, do the following:
Bring up Preferences (Tools, Preferences, General tab)
Find the option labeled verify new name, and make sure it is checked. Click OK,
Find the person you wish to correct (click on Search, then Individual List, and scroll up or down to the name you want).
Once the name you want is highlighted, click on the Edit button at the bottom of the screen.
With the "verify new name" option selected, any time you enter a name that is not in the database, you will be asked if the spelling is correct. All you have to do is press "yes" or "no." If you press "yes," the program will take you to the next block for entry. If you press "no," you will be taken back to the name you entered and allowed to re-enter it again.
The validation against existing names is also case-sensitive. For example, if you have the name "Karen" in the database and enter the name "karen" with a lower-case "k," the program will ask you to verify not only the spelling, but the capitalization, as well.
