Take the time to look at your pedigree chart and compare it with the chart on page 7-23 of your textbook.

Do you see any men who might have served in any of these wars? Enter your results in your genealogy computer program under the names of the men you analyzed. You could type in: TO DO: Check the Spanish American War service records index to see if he ever served in this war.

Later, you can perform one of those focused searches referred to in lesson 5 where we discussed different printing options, and print out a list of every person for which you have a TO DO listed. You can learn from the beginning to work faster and more efficiently than your competition.

Modern SoldierBut let's return to your analysis of your family pedigree. In addition to locating events which might impact on your ancestor's life such as a depression, a war, or an epidemic, a close scrutiny of dates might reveal other clues or raise questions in your mind.
