The Handybook for Genealogists and Ancestry.com's Red Book each provide information on other sources for maps and historical information for the state under study.

It would be a good idea to record the names of the states where you are conducting research. Then look them up in these books and see where you might obtain some good historical maps. Don't forget the four web sites provided in the back of Chapter 7 in your textbook.

You will find the rare map collection from the Hargrett Library in Georgia excellent for early southern states materials. The Perry-Castaneda Library Map Collection at the University of Texas has many Soviet maps.
