This lesson will focus on the steps necessary to organize your personal family history materials, so you will be able to find anything in minutes. Students should copy the URL that follows and paste it into their Internet browser window to visit the presentation without cost: www.legacyfamilytree.com/Webinars.asp.
Scroll way down to August 3, 2011 where you can view my Webinar on Organizing for Success. It takes a bit over an hour to watch and listen to the demonstration. Over 1,625 attended the Webinar. People who watched this presentation said it really helped them to understand and to see the overall vision of what we are trying to accomplish in this organizational system.
The producers of Legacy who sponsored this Webinar sent me the following link that gives the listener's comments. Organizing for Success. Remember to see it for free, use the link given in the first paragraph.
You have been given a shopping list of materials to purchase in order to accomplish a semester project. This includes a three-ring binder. Those that have a clear, see-through cover are very effective, since it allows you to insert a picture, a title page, or some other cover sheet. The spine also has a see-through cover, so you can slip a title under it, as well, to indicate how many Family Group Records are in that particular binder.
For example, if this notebook covered the Brown Family, the spine could read:
BROWN

FAMILY
|
HISTORY

MRINS
