4  The export process—

Once you have identified all the people you want to include in your file, it is time to export the file or cancel the process. To cancel just click Cancel. To export the file, click Export.

Set the Save in box to the appropriate location, probably one of two choices:

  • if you want to copy this GEDCOM file to a diskette, you would set it or type in a: (if that is your diskette drive)
  • if you are saving it to the hard drive to send via the Internet or other purposes, save it in the default file data

Now you must give the file a name in the File name box. A good practice is to use the name of the principle person in the file.

Next you would click the Export button. A copy of the selected names, data and notes (whatever you have chosen) will be copied from your data file as a GEDCOM file ready for whatever you've chosen.

When the export is completed, a GEDCOM Export screen will appear to indicate how many individuals and marriages were exported.

Click OK and you are returned to the PAF screen.
