You can access the help files of PAF in one of four ways from nearly any screen:

  • click Help on the menu bar and choose Current topic
  • strike the F1 key (do you see the reminder on the drop-down menu?)
  • click the icon
  • click a button in any screen

Once you get to the first help screen, select Help Topics.

At the next screen there are three large tabs. Click Index and this will allow you to enter a word or words that might bring up the information you wish to know more about. NOTE:   If you were to have clicked Help topics from the drop-down list you found when you clicked Help on the menu bar, you would have been brought directly here.

For example, suppose you had a question about the steps needed to cite a reference. Once you are in the Index, enter the word "cite." Notice that, as you type, the list below goes to the first term that has those same letters. Before you can finish the word, you can see the only term that is close to what you were entering—citation detail.

When you have the term for which you want more information highlighted, click Display you will immediately go to the information or there will be another screen which gives more choices.

Select one of these and click Display. By this method you will be able to gain a deeper understand of what you are working with.
