USING THE FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY CATALOG

As we discussed in Chapter 10 of your textbook, the Family History Library Catalog (FHLC) can be found in several formats:

• on microfiche
• on CD-Rom at a local center
• on computers linked through servers in larger centers
• on the Internet (www.FamilySearch.org/Search/searchcatalog.asp)

We also pointed out that information is divided into major collections with different headings and many sub-headings in each. Of these four major headings, Author/Title, Subject, Locality, and Surname, the last two are the most used so we will practice those during this lesson.
