After the five years of residency, and within seven years of filing
the declaration, the immigrant completed a "Petition for Naturalization"
for presentation to the court. While this form usually
does not have as much information as the declaration, it adds information
about marriage and children (after December 1910), so it serves to
update the declaration.
The form indicates the petitioner's residence, occupation, birth,
and immigration information. In addition, it includes affidavits
of both the petitioner and two witnesses that the applicant is of
good moral character and has met the residency requirement. The
back of the form includes the oath of allegiance, as well as notations
on the court action taken.
