LESSON TWO
EFFECTIVELY SEARCHING RECORDS

READING ASSIGNMENT: Click here for Chapter 2

Assignment: Record Evaluation Checklist

Checklist This lesson we will focus on nine techniques for more effectively searching records that are particularly useful for immigrant research. I will include case studies from my personal research, information from experts received at national genealogy conferences for the past two decades, and experiences shared by students as they applied the principles learned in both the chapter readings and these online lessons.

While you may have studied some of these research techniques in previous courses, they most likely were not personally applied on a former project. Therefore, each technique should be studied with a fresh perspective as it is applied to your immigrant ancestor's problem.

The book reading is found under the "Check here for Chapter 2" link above, and you will find a "Record Evaluation Checklist" under that particular link above.
