USING PROBATE RECORDS

Many probate records are printed as: abstracts, extracts, and transcriptions. Abbreviated or abridged summaries of the original documents in which only essential data is recorded is called an abstract. These usually contain a brief synopsis which may include all names, dates, places, and relationships identified within the record.

Verbatim transcriptions of portions of the original documents are called __________.
