Do not confuse a Research Planner with a Log. The Research Log records what was found, while the Planner records several pieces of information:

1. what was found
2. what was not found
3. when an item was searched
4. what records should still be searched

Using a Research Planner is a very important step in setting goals, as it helps to focus the work and reminds you to apply the seven basic rules stated above.
