Scrapbook

PrintScrapbk

This tab creates essentially a photo album. This will show you all the photos and scanned documents you have for one or more individuals in your file.

Starting Person

This option prints a scrapbook page for the person named as Starting Person. If you wish to begin the chart or charts with someone else, click Search.

If you wish to produce the pages for more than one individual, click the Use list box and you will be presented with list of all the people in the file and various options which allow you to choose several (or all) of those you have input.

Scrapbook Options

Include caption  When you save each photo or scanned document, you can also save a caption. This box will bring in that caption with the image. You can print / view the caption above or below the image.

Include filename  Remember that the images you save are not directly part of your PAF file, there are only links to them in the file. Click this box if you wish to have the filename (the "address" for each on your computer, e.g. C:\Images\genealogy\ThomasGoodfellow #3.jpg) printed on the scrapbook page, as well.

Include description  If you click this box, you include the longer description you entered when you saved each image.

Suppress RINs  You've seen this. Change it in Preferences.

Print boxes  Click this if you wish a "frame" around each photo/document. You can choose the style you wish for the frame by clicking Box Styles.

Items per Page

This is part of the page layout. You decide how many you want to fit into a page. Use the Page Setup button to set the page to "portrait" or "landscape."

Use Photo Size

Once you set the page layout, this determines the size of the photos/documents.

  • Exact size — This will reproduce each image as the size you saved it.
  • Minimum size — This will adjust the size of each to fit the layout you have created. It will print the photo as large as possible staying within the margins you have set. For example, if you use 8.5" x 11" paper in landscape mode with .5" margins on all sides, the printable area on the page is 7.5" high by 10" wide. If you choose to print two items down the page and three items across the page, each photo can be up to 3.5" wide by 3" tall.

Tip:  If you do not want to include a photo in the scrapbook, you must specify that before you print the report. Find the individual whose scrapbook you want to print, and access the Multimedia Collection. Select the photo that you want to exclude from the Scrapbook, and click Edit Photo. If the Include photo in scrapbook option is clicked, click on it.
