SUPPLEMENTAL COMPUTER CHECKLIST #14

microfilm

First we will illustrate how a census record between 1880 and 1930 found in a Federal Archives would be recorded:

Census, Federal, 1880-1930 - NARA filmed copy

1900 CENSUS: WI, Green Co., Monroe Twp, George O. Nelson household, 1900 U.S. census, Greene County, Wisconsin, population schedule, township of Monroe, enumeration district [ED] 43, supervisor's district [SD] 1, sheet 13A, line 14; National Archives micro publication T52, roll 32.

While the year, event, and location are the same, we have mentioned the exact household in that census we are referring to. Then the title of the census, its location, the type of census schedule, and its location is provided.

Then we have a new piece of information. This is the enumeration district that was mentioned in your textbook reading. Without this number, your family is very hard to find. So include the enumeration district, supervisor's district, sheet number, and line number.

The last pieces of information are which drawer and roll number in the archives system you would find this information.
